Reds value CM maestro £31m under his release-clause – Report

Liverpool are refusing to pay anything over £40m for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, reports Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness).

They claim the Reds are keen on the 24-year-old, who was head and shoulders above anyone in the Portuguese league last season, Joao Felix included, but will only pay £31m below his £71m release-clause.

In 2018/19, Fernandes scored 30 goals, all the more incredible when you realise he started most games in an orthodox central midfield position…

The information we’ve received at EOTK, however, suggests this isn’t the case at all and that Liverpool are not trying to sign Fernandes at any price.

Like most outlets, we’ve been told that the club simply isn’t trying to sign any big names and that we shouldn’t expect any before the new campaign – bar the filling of backup positions at left-back and potentially in goal.

It’s pretty mundane, especially considering there’s no real links to exciting left-backs, but when you consider the bigger picture – actually good news.

Liverpool already have a terrific squad ready to win things. We don’t need to make changes. There isn’t room in the side for big names – unsurprising considering we’re back to back Champions League finalists and one-time winners.

Let’s just enjoy this summer’s rest, before the hard graft starts once again!
