New Liverpool signing vows to become a club legend for the ‘best fans in the world’

Sepp van den Berg has set the bar very high for himself in his first interview as a Liverpool player – the young centre-back has vowed to become a club legend at Anfield.

He only has just more than a handful of senior appearances to his name from his time at PEC Zwolle, but, at 17-years-old, our new boy isn’t afraid of lofty expectations.

It’s just amazing. It is, for me, the biggest club in the world and it’s a dream come true. I am really excited,he’s quoted as saying by Goal.

Football without fans is nothing. I can say Liverpool has the best fans in the world, so I am really excited to hopefully [get a chance] to play with them behind me.

Longer-term, I hope I can play as much as possible here for the club. Short-term, [my target is] to be with the first team, develop myself, grow into the team and see how it goes. Long-term, I really want to be a legend here.

Sepp clearly holds himself in a high regard which can only be a good thing. He’ll be learning from Virgil van Dijk in training each week as he looks to turn himself into a world-beater.

Surely it won’t be long before the fans have a song for the teenager if he’s able to live up to his own expectations of breaking into the first team and going on to become a legend.
