(Video) – Mané assists match-winning goal to send Senegal into semi-finals

Senegal are into the last four of the Africa Cup of Nations after a Sadio Mané assist for Idrissa Gana Gueye proved to be enough to send them into the semi-finals at the expense of Benin.

Over the course of the match, Mané had two goals ruled out after VAR checks, but intelligent interplay between him and the Everton man saw Senegal take the advantage in the 69th minute.

Gueye started the move by passing to Mané, who intelligently saw that Gueye was continuing his run into the box; the Reds man wriggled free from his marker and played a deft pass to the onrushing midfielder to sweep the ball past the ‘keeper.

On the national stage, at least, rivalries were seemingly put to rest for the ninety minutes.

After scoring a brace against Kenya and the winner against Uganda in the run-up to this quarter-final meeting against Benin, it’s great to see the Liverpool forward was at the heart of the action once more.
