German wonderkid reacts to transfer speculation as Reds are linked with mega-money move

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, one of the world’s greatest young talents, has been linked with a move to Anfield today, but he insists that he is focused on his current side – at least for now.

Having already lost Julian Brandt to Borussia Dortmund this summer, Leverkusen have been very clear in that they want to keep hold of the 20-year-old German international. It is believed they value him at around £100 million.

Havertz told German outlet BILD: “I am honest, at some point, the next step must come for me but I’m not going to worry about when exactly that will happen.

“What counts now is Bayer Leverkusen. Now I’m starting my tenth year here, maybe we can make it a golden one for the club. What will happen afterwards has not yet been decided. There is no club where I have already signed.”

It makes perfect sense that the Reds would be interested in Havertz, but Michael Edwards will certainly not be the only one picking up the phone to the Bundesliga prodigy.

Bayern Munich had been said to have agreed to sign Havertz next summer – although the player denies this is the case – while Barcelona are also rumoured to be interested.

He will leave Leverkusen at some point sooner rather than later – and we’d love it if his destination was Anfield.
