Liverpool sent a youthful team to Crosby on Sunday afternoon as Marine hosted the Reds in their pre-season preparations ahead of their 125th year as a football club.
The Mariners made a good account of themselves by carving out several chances, but Liverpool had too much for the hosts and ran out 5-1 winners at the Marine Travel Arena.
Canadian forward Liam Millar bagged a brace after scoring a penalty early on in the second half – which German Mendes initially done well to deny before the follow-up – with a trialist scoring Marine’s only goal of the game.
Notable youngsters that took part for the Reds included Neco Williams, Abdi Sheriff, Isaac Christie-Davies, Pedro Chirivella, Liam Millar and Herbie Kane.

The Crosby-based non-league club was relegated last season for the first time in their history, and will compete in the Northern Premier League as they don a gold and black home kit to celebrate their 125th year as a football club.
The Liverpool U23s squad are set to face Coventry City in their next pre-season fixture before travelling to down the M62 to face Oldham Athletic in the EFL Trophy next month.
