Yasser Larouci thankfully appears to have escaped serious injury after the horror tackle that hacked him down to the ground against Sevilla last night.
The full-back was driving forward with the ball when Joris Gnagnon lashed out at him horribly, in what could have been a leg-breaking challenge. You can watch the footage of the ‘tackle’ by clicking here.
Larouci was stretchered off the field of play, with most onlookers shocked at the level of aggression the Sevilla man had shown. Gnagnon was red-carded for the challenge, while two other Sevilla players could well have been sent off as well in what was a frankly bizarre match.
Rather than feel for Larouci, though, rival supporters have been comparing the foul he suffered to ones that Reds players dished out – even though there is clearly no comparison.

That was obviously a foul on Wilfried Zaha – but to suggest it was anything like the Gnagnon one is crazy.

Liverpool fans need to stop playing the victim over that foul. A number of variables go into a tackle. Speed is one of them. He wasn’t trying to hurt the player.

Some absolutely bizarre takes there. Hopefully, Larouci is fine to play in the next game against Sporting Lisbon, which should be a little less ill-tempered.
