IT’S OVER!
There will be no more rumours linking Nabil Fekir with a transfer from Lyon to Liverpool – EVER.
The French World Cup winner has officially joined Real Betis in La Liga, with the Spanish club announcing the transfer last night.
Fekir endured an average season for Lyon after missing out on a transfer to Liverpool last summer, after we decided to cancel a deal at the last minute following results of a medical.
Many fans still held out hope we’d go back in for the playmaker, but those in the know were adamant that a deal would not be resurrected and they’ve been proven right.
James Pearce helped break the news last night – and Twitter reacted with hilarity – with fellow journalist Kevin Palmer telling the former Echo correspondent he can now ‘shut down’ his account as his work is done!
The journalist has been badgered for 12 months over the likelihood of Fekir signing for Liverpool, so we imagined he’s as relieved the saga is over as anybody.
Below is some journalist reaction – as well as some tweets from Reds who are equally as glad.
Great work James. You can now shut down the Twitter account. This is all these people were waiting for. Enjoy a long holiday 👍🏻
