Brisbane Roar, managed by Reds legend Robbie Fowler, beat Sydney FC 2-0 in the FFA Cup to seal a place in the last-16.
Post-match, Fowler branded the win an ‘epic achievement’, according to the Guardian. Sydney are the reigning champions in Australia’s top-flight, while Fowler fielded an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old in central midfield for Roar.
Stefan Mauk and Jay O’Shea got the goals for Fowler as he masterminded an unexpected victory against a superior and more experienced opponent.
Away from home against the reigning A-League champions, Fowler’s side kept a clean sheet and scored twice despite their teenage midfield duo.

The game was Fowler’s first as a coach apart from a short spell as interim boss with Thailand club Muangthong United back in 2011.
Brisbane Roar will play Central Coast Mariners next in the competition, where Fowler will be hoping he can oversee a trip to the quarter-finals.
It’s great to see him doing well over in Australia. It’s still early days, but he’s made an excellent start to life Down Under – long may that continue.
