Paul Parker makes big claim that Man United new-boy is better than his Reds counterpart

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker says Old Trafford new-boy Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the best right-back in the Premier League – ahead of the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Having made a £50 million switch from Crystal Palace this summer, Wan-Bissaka is certainly one of the more expensive full-backs in the country, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to quality.

Via the Daily Star, Parker said: “I’ve said it many times, I watched him often last year, I just like what he does. People talk about the lad at Liverpool but he can’t defend like Wan-Bissaka, whose defending and positioning is very good.

“He wants to defend, he loves it. And every time he won a tackle there was no doubt he won it cleanly. You would think he had been there years. I’m judging him as a defender. He is the best right-back in the Premier League.”

Overlooking Alexander-Arnold, who is a more rounded player than Wan-Bissaka, is an odd decision, while there is also Manchester City’s new signing Joao Cancelo to put into the mix.

For us, Alexander-Arnold is clearly better than Wan-Bissaka, and not just because he plays for the Reds. Alexander-Arnold has been to back-to-back Champions League finals, excelling at the highest level, and his attacking potency – a crucial part of the modern game – is far superior to Wan-Bissaka’s.

Alexander-Arnold is arguably the best right-back not just in England, but in the world, right now. We certainly wouldn’t swap him for anyone.
