Arsenal legend Ian Wright backs Liverpool to win the Premier League title

Last season, the Premier League title race went right down to the last day with Liverpool keeping up with eventual Champions Manchester City.

The Reds will be hoping to do the same again this season, looking to build on the success of winning the Champions League last year.

Jurgen Klopp’s men set a new record for the number of points a club finishing second collected in a Premier League season – but I’m not sure that will have entirely satisfied the players and staff.

But Ian Wright has suggested the Reds will go one better this season – maybe it is time the league title makes its way back to Anfield.

What I’m seeing from Liverpool this season, I have to say Man City are magnificent, Liverpool will have to learn from the slip up against Leicester and when City lost to Newcastle,” said Wright on BBC Radio 5 Live (as per Live4Liverpool.

At the end of the day, they lost the league by a point and what I’m making of this, is that what Liverpool learnt from last season is how important it is to not drop points when you have the opportunity to win games at home, that’s what it’s going to come down to.

Most people are surely expecting City to make it three years on the bounce in the Premier League, after dominating on the domestic front last season.

Wrighty is now one of a fair few in the mainstream media backing the Reds to finally end the wait for a league title. A 4-1 win at Anfield is certainly some way to show we’re up for the fight!
