Sadio Mane has matched a Premier League record set by Mark Viduka

By scoring against Southampton on Saturday, Sadio Mane has registered a goal on his first start of a Premier League season in each of the past four consecutive years!

The last player to do the same thing was Mark Viduka between 2002 and 2005 for Leeds United.

Mane’s strike was his third of the campaign, following his superb brace v Chelsea in the Super Cup – which is all the more impressive considering he missed the entirety of pre-season.

But he’s started 2019/20 brilliantly and has been our best player so far by some distance.

Last term, he notched 26 goals in all competitions, his best return in a single season ever – but we reckon he could reach 30 this time around.

Considering he’s an out and out winger and doesn’t take set-pieces, this would be extraordinary – but it’s not unrealistic when you take into account his form this calendar year.

With Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino up top – anything is possible for Liverpool in every game – even when we’re not at our fluent best.
