The Reds will come up against Red Bull Salzburg, the former club of both Sadio Mane and Naby Keita, in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and it is safe to say Jurgen Klopp’s men are clear favourites.
Salzburg are in excellent form, but could be missing a key man and don’t play against sides of the level of the Reds too often.
As the quote from their manager, Jesse Marsch, below shows, they are far from hopeful of picking up the points.
🗣️ – Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch on facing #LFC: “It is a terrible match-up for us in one sense, because all the things we do well, they are better at. I have never met Jürgen but there are a lot of things that I really respect about how he runs his team.” pic.twitter.com/zEnjxlEKx4

There is no such thing as an easy Champions League game and Salzburg will be full of energy and endeavour. The Reds’ quality should shine through eventually but they will have to work hard to earn the right to play.
Having been defeated against Napoli on matchday one, the Reds really could do with a win. Qualifying for the knockout stages with as little fuss as possible will be vital in the Premier League, too, with the focus able to switch back to that as soon as possible.
