Reds set sights on Dejan Lovren replacement who has “blown away” scouts

Liverpool want to sign Championship centre-back, and PFA Player of the Month for August, Ben White, according to Football Insider.

White is on loan at Leeds United from Brighton where he has started all 11 league matches for Marcelo Bielsa this season. His awareness, timing and reading of the game have all been praised this season and Reds scouts are said to have been “blown away” by his performances.

Brighton now reportedly value the 21-year-old defender at more than £20 million, though that is no surprise in the current climate.

White is said to be on the Reds’ radar as a potential replacement for Dejan Lovren. The Croatian is still a valued member of the Reds’ squad but does want more football and is now 30.

Lovren wanted to leave the club over the summer in search of more first-team minutes but ended up staying put.

Next summer, though, it is not too hard to envisage him leaving Anfield, at which point a new signing will be required, unless, of course, Ki-Jana Hoever is ready to make the step up.
