Jurgen Klopp issues injury updates on Joel Matip & Naby Keita

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on defender Joel Matip and midfielder Naby Keita, ahead of the Reds’ Premier League fixture against Aston Villa this weekend.

A win for Liverpool would ensure that we remain – at least – six points clear at the top of the table, with a game against title rivals Manchester City on the horizon.

That game against City could turn out to be huge for us this season, with a win against them throwing us nine points clear atop the Premier League pileup.

Having our best players available to us this weekend would be a welcome boost, as a win against Villa would allow us to focus on the big game that comes right after.

Unfortunately, Villa comes too soon for Matip who will be out for at least another three weeks, but we do have Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez to step into his shoes for now so we should be okay on the defensive front.

Naby Keita is a possibility for the game, and it would come as a very welcome boost indeed as the boss is still unsure whether to risk Fabinho picking up a suspension this weekend.

Naby I don’t know yet [if he’s available], we will see. Joel is not [available] for the next few weeks, the boss told the club’s official site.
