Sadio Mane says Naby Keita ‘just needs to improve his English’

Sadio Mane has praised Naby Keita and spoken about his love for Liverpool’s Guinean midfielder – a player he once lined up alongside at Rb Salzburg.

He has however claimed our no.8 needs to improve his English in order to communicate more openly with the rest of the squad.

“He’s more than a friend for me, he’s a brother. It hasn’t been easy for him lately because he was injured for a long time, but I know he’ll come back at his best, because he’s working hard to do so,” Mane told France Football (cited by the Mirror).

“He just needs to improve his English to be understood more by everyone, but to be able to count on a true friend in the group, that’s priceless. It’s even calming at times.”

Keita was very good against Genk two weeks ago, but flopped v Arsenal in the EFL Cup at Anfield.

He did however do quite well when introduced v Aston Villa on Saturday, and will surely start against Genk in the Champions League this evening.

In the run up to Christmas, we play every three or four days, so Keita will feature prominently. He’s now fully fit, so has a great opportunity to prove he deserves a spot in Klopp’s first-choice Premier League midfield.

And hopefully, as Mane suggests, his English is getting better – as this will not only help him on the pitch, but off it – in terms of his integration with the squad.
