Some LFC fans want Sadio Mane to emulate Luis Suarez against Manchester City

Sadio Mane had an eventful game when Liverpool travelled to Birmingham to face off against Aston Villa – not that he’s ever quiet!

The Senegalese star set up a goal in the 87th minute, and completed the Reds’ 2-1 comeback in the 94 minute by nodding in a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.

But the game was littered with controversy by VAR official Martin Atkinson and referee Jon Moss. In one instance, Mane found himself in the box and went down fairly easily after a Villa defender cut across him and just clipped his leg.

Moss blew up for this, and awarded the forward a yellow card for simulation.

You’d expect Jurgen Klopp and Dean Smith to have some thoughts on this decision, but we were also blessed with Pep Guardiola’s opinion too.

The Man City manager had just seen is team overturn a deficit of their own, against Southampton, but he couldn’t help but talk about his favourite club!

The Spaniard complained about Mane – suggesting that sometimes he scores, sometimes he dives, even though he’d likely not seen any footage of the incident.

Since then, loads of Liverpool fans on Twitter have been calling for Mane to recreate Luis Suarez’s famous celebration against Everton in which the Uruguayan ‘dived’ in front of David Moyes – the Everton boss had recently labelled the Reds’ striker as a diver.
