Journalist nails it on Trent following another jaw-dropping performance

When people talk about the fact Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t the best defender in the world, we want to pull our hair out.

It’s like saying Lionel Messi isn’t that good in the air!

The right-back is technically the most special footballer we’ve seen at right-back, certainly in the Premier League era.

Today, the 21-year-old scouser put in another breathtaking performance – making so many passes that opened Manchester City up we lost count.

His diagonal ball in the buildup to Mo Salah’s headed effort was especially brilliant – but he put countless long balls in throughout the 90 minutes of a similar ilk.

Oliver Holt claimed sensibly on Twitter that the occasional focus on Trent being suspect at the back (which he wasn’t, by the way) totally misses the point…

To think, Trent is just 21-years-old, makes it even more special.

Plenty of people want Trent as a midfielder, but we don’t feel like there’s necessarily any point right now!

We’re top of the league, having won 11 games of 12 – and are also top of our Champions League group.

If Trent is creating the issues he currently is, why change things?
