Liverpool’s possible opponents in UCL last 16 confirmed after Reds top group E

Liverpool topped their Champions League group, as the Reds defeated Red Bull Salzburg 2-0 away from home, thanks to goals from Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah.

That means Jurgen Klopp now has to think about the last 16 and who we could potentially face in the knockout round.

We already have an idea, based on where everyone else is positioned in their groups for now – it’ll be confirmed when will of the teaming fixtures have been played.

As the Reds finished top, we will be paired up with one of the second placed finishers in one of the other groups.

This doesn’t apply to our own group and we aren’t allowed to play another Premier League side just yet – and all three of Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs made it through.

The teams that fall into this category include: Real Madrid, Atletico, Borussia Dortmund, Lyon, Dynamo Zagreb, Shakhtar, Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen.

I’m not sure who I’d like to see us against in the knockout round. I feel as if I’d like us to get an easy result (no disrespect) like Shakhtar, but another part of me wants to get revenge on Real Madrid and eliminate them before they can even get excited.

Either way, we’re the holders and nobody will want to play us!
