Ben Doak won’t forget 28 September 2024 in a hurry, with the on-loan Liverpool youngster today netting the first goal of his senior career in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 win over Stoke.
The 18-year-old was handed his first start for the Teessiders this afternoon and he rewarded Michael Carrick’s faith by opening the scoring in the 34th minute.

The finish itself mightn’t necessarily have been how the Scotland international imagined it in his dreams, tapping home with ease from the edge of the six-yard box after Viktor Johansson failed to hold the initial shot from Riley McGree.
They all count, though, and Doak will fondly recall not just the win for Middlesbrough but also a landmark moment in his fledgling career, with fellow Liverpool loanee Lewis Koumas watching on enviously as he featured for the beaten Potters.
