Liverpool have opening bid for prodigal attacker rejected; debating 2nd mammoth offer

Liverpool have been rebuffed in our initial attempt to sign Schalke attacker Leroy Sane, claim our friends at This Is Anfield.

They do not report how much we offered for the German, but suggest the club is now debating whether to up the bid for the Germany international – who will likely be very expensive.

Sane enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga this term, scoring eight goals and registering six assists – impressive considering he’s only 20-years-old.

He plays predominantly on the right, although he can be utilised as a no.10 or from the left as well.

Liverpool are in desperate need of a new right winger, with Jordon Ibe flattering to deceive in 2015/16. We went all out for Mario Gotze, but with the 24-year-old seemingly unattainable, Sane might provide a decent alternative.

He’s quick, skilful and importantly has the potential to improve tenfold – something which will be important in all of Jurgen Klopp’s summer signings.

We’ve so far captured Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Marko Grujic, but a blockbuster deal for an offensive player would be the highlight of the summer.
