Liverpool desperately trying to offload three first-team players (Telegraph)

Liverpool are actively trying to offload Mario Balotelli and are desperate to finalise a sale before he’d have to return to Melwood for pre-season.

That’s according to Chris Bascombe, the Telegraph’s respected Liverpool correspondent, who made the claim in his article about Martin Skrtel’s imminent departure.

He also claimed that the club were happy to listen to offers for £32.5m striker Christian Benteke and Hungarian goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.

Liverpool’s priority though is to sell Balotelli and get his wages off our books. On top of that, they don’t want the controversial Italian disrupting Jurgen Klopp’s early pre-season plans. Benteke and Bogdan are for sale, but aren’t considered problem figures and the club is likely to bide its time in regard to their departures.

We’ve already released Joao Teixeira, Jordan Rossiter and Kolo Toure, but it seems as though there’ll be a plethora of further exits during Klopp’s first summer in charge.

At Borussia Dortmund, Klopp got rid of 17 players during his first window, which provides a snapshot into the potential comings and goings at Anfield this time around.

Providing we bring in adequate replacements, this seems entirely sensible.
