Gareth Bale has been incredibly positive about the impact Joe Allen has on Wales, praising the Liverpool star and insisting that he is somewhat underappreciated elsewhere, as reported by the Daily Star.
Allen may have developed something of a cult following at Anfield, but he’s still being heavily linked with a Liverpool exit this summer. Swansea, Leicester City, and Spanish side Sevilla are all being touted as potential destinations (via the Star), and after his performances at the Euros he’s unlikely to have any shortage of suitors.
Bale couldn’t speak highly enough of his international teammate, discussing his incredible work-rate and the bright future he still has.
“I can’t really speak highly enough of him,” Bale said.
“I think he does the dirty work that maybe goes unnoticed.
“But for us, we know how vitally important he is and how amazing he’s played.
“In the squad we appreciate him very much. Maybe he doesn’t get the headlines outside, but in the squad he gets them.
“He works his socks off every game and I’m sure he’ll go on to do incredible things in his career.”
Many Liverpool fans are furious that Jurgen Klopp is even considering selling Joe Allen, especially considering the potential replacements being touted. Even the staunchest supporter will admit that there are unquestionably better players out there than the Welsh wizard, but he definitely offers us something that few others could. As a squad player he’s absolutely phenomenal, and you have to ask whether any incoming midfielder will be an improvement.
Liverpool transfer news
As a fellow Welsh international Bale is obviously a little biased, but when you receive praise from a player of the Real Madrid’s quality you know it’s deserved.
