Football fans from all clubs have leapt to the defence of club icon Steven Gerrard after he and his daughter were abused online.
The former club skipper posted a pic of his daughter’s first day at school, but the trolls were quickly circling.
There were hundreds of references to Gerrard’s ability as a player – which while in poor tasty, aren’t offensive per se – but far more concerning were all the messages about the looks and appearance of his daughter, Lourdes.
In a show of solidarity, fans of all stripes have been rallying around the 36-year-old with messages of support.
