U23s set for Premier League International Cup bow against Wolfsburg

Posted by

Our U23 side will take to the pitch tonight in their first Premier League International Cup of the season.

They will face German side Wolfsburg.

The tournament sees England’s 12 best academy sides compete against 12 of the top development squads from across the European continent.

The format sees a round robin group stage followed by a knockout competition – exactly like this summer’s Euros in France.

This year is the third edition of the tournament. Man City were the inaugural winners after beating Porto B 1-0 in the final, and last year Villarreal beat PSV Eindhoven 4-2 after extra time.
