Danny Ings once again to took the chance to impress his credentials on Jurgen Klopp as he bagged two goals in the U23s’ easy 3-0 win over Sunderland.
Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the other.
Both Ings’ goals came after the break. The first came just after the restart when he thumped in from close range, and the second arrived via a spectacular diving header midway through the half.
Alexander-Arnold crashed his shot in at the near post with 15 minutes remaining.
It was a great win for the side. Sunderland’s senior side might be struggling in the league, but their youth side is flying and would have gone top of the table with a win.
