This time, it’s Ronaldo – arguably the greatest centre-forward of the modern generation – suggesting our Brazilian should join his former club Real Madrid.

“I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player,” the record World Cup scorer told Onda Cero’s “El Transistor” radio show

Coutinho starred for us again last night against Manchester United, almost scoring one of his trademark curlers from range. Sadly, David de Gea got a claw to it, but the effort demonstrated our playmaker’s outrageous talent.

It’ll be no surprise if the world’s best eventually go in for Coutinho, but under Jurgen Klopp – we hope we have a genuine chance of retaining him.

The pair have a great relationship, but more importantly – Coutinho is happy in the city, has a young family growing up here and the adulation of our supporters.

So let them talk all they like… He’s ours.
