John W Henry probably feels safe from Liverpool fan demands sat in the front row at Fenway Park, Boston Red Sox’s ground, but alas, he is not!
A supporter recently saw our owner at the baseball game and decided to badger him about signing Virgil van Dijk in January.
The Dutch defender was Jurgen Klopp’s primary defensive target this summer, but we failed to sign him because of Southampton’s refusal to enter negotiations after our illegal approach.

Van Dijk recently returned to action for Southampton’s U23 side, but put in a fairly abysmal performance in a 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
He’s unlikely to enter the first-team fray this weekend as a result, with his match fitness and sharpness clearly not yet up to scratch.
Will we go for him in January? Maybe, but for now – he’s not going to help. Klopp needs to get one of Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan or Joe Gomez up to a level capable of playing alongside Joel Matip every week.
