The percentage of shirt sales at Sports Direct for each club has been released by Manchester Evening News.
21% of their shirts sold are Liverpool ones, which ranks us second in the country behind Manchester United.
We’re ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, while Newcastle sell more than Manchester City – the runaway Premier League leaders who can’t fill their stadium.
Here’s the list:
Manchester United: 32%
Liverpool: 21%
Arsenal: 15%
Chelsea: 10%
Tottenham: 8%
Newcastle: 7%
Manchester City: 4%
There’s not really too many surprises on this list, in fairness.
We’re a much bigger club than Chelsea and Arsenal, although they’ve enjoyed Premier League titles and we have not.
It’s high time Liverpool start winning trophies under Jurgen Klopp, of course. In the past ten years, we’ve won one League Cup, which isn’t good enough.
We really hope that this season Klopp puts proper effort into the FA Cup, as it’s already our only realistic chance of silverware.
(Not that we’d turn down the Champions League, of course…)
