Firmino: On the ‘secrets’ behind his jaw-dropping relationship with Mo & Mane

Posted by

Roberto Firmino has suggested his selfless, hard-working relationship with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane is the reason Liverpool have torn so many teams apart this season.

In the Champions League, the trio have plundered 28 goals between them, with no other front-three in world football scoring as many goals combined (88) in 2017/18 altogether.

Firmino has 27 in all competitions – not bad for a ‘false-nine’ who doesn’t score enough goals and does all his best work defensively.

What’s brilliant is that the Brazilian still puts in just as much work as he always did, but is now regularly supplementing it with end product.

“We have great unity, not just up front but when it comes to defending too and we’re working well together, and I think that’s the main reason,” Firmino told the Echo, when asked of his success.

“I hope that we can carry on in this way.

“Personally I’ve been working hard to make this happen, and I’ve been doing things right and I’ve been improving.

“Am I doing anything differently in training? That’s a secret of ours! That’s my secret. I can’t tell you anything…”

Having lost Coutinho in January, Firmino has struck a relationship with Salah especially that defies belief.

It’s crucial then that we keep hold of Bobby and extend his contract which currently expires in 2020.

One more season without him putting pen to paper, and it becomes a realistic possibility that he’ll depart for nothing.
