Ahh… This is more sad news after a pretty rubbish weekend, football wise.
Times journalist Paul Joyce has confirmed that Joe Gomez has an ankle injury and that his season is over – meaning he’ll not only miss the Champions League Final but also the World Cup.
Joe Gomez has had ankle surgery. Will miss CL final and probably World Cup as well. Sacrificed himself for Liverpool when playing in pain v West Brom and Stoke City.

The youngster has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Liverpool, but was criticised for his lackadaisical performance at home to Stoke ten days ago.
It turns out though that he was injured throughout and was actually putting his body on the line for the Reds.
He was awful on the day, but now the reason why is obvious.
We wish Gomez the best of his luck in his recovery and hope he can get fit in time for what’s likely to be a huge pre-season for him.
This summer, when most of his team-mates are still on international duty, could be the one where Gomez proves to Jurgen Klopp he’s a capable centre-back partner for Virgil van Dijk.
