As with many Reds I was gutted to hear the news that Sami Hyypia has signed a 2 year contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
His service to Liverpool F.C. has been outstanding and Big Sami has done everything that was ever asked of him, he is true Liverpool legend. Sami has spent 10 years at Liverpool with 463 appearences and 35 goals winning the League Cup, UEFA Cup, Charity Shield, Super Cup, Champions League & FA Cup. He was also our skipper for over a year and a half until Stevie G. came of age.
Sami had a bad spell last season with two own goals in a short period of time and some fans unfortunately had forgotten all that he had done and focused on these two mistakes. I found this video below which talks about this and Sami’s great service to the club.
Sami will wear his beloved No.4 at Leverkusen so now I have a reason to watch the Bundesliga next season :-)

Legend is an often misused word, but Sami is a true legend for our club, when he arrived we were in a real mess, in defence and as a team, he installed some consistency in defence, and captained this club with great dignity! The last few seasons he has been in and out of the team but never spat his dummy out, unlike other so called pros at different prem clubs!
His loyalty is total and I am sad to see him go but as someone said i will now watch german football on setanta next season with a keener interest, and i hope to see him back here in a few seasons in a coaching capacity!
Good Luck Sami you will be missed but thanks for what you have given us fans over the last decade!
