Not Welcome Anywhere

Not Welcome Anyhere

Have you made the effort to tell Tom & George that they are not welcome anywhere? If not then take a moment to help make a difference.

On the Sunday 4th July 12pm the Spirit of Shankly (SOS) are holding an Independence Day Rally on St George’s Hall Plateau, to talk about plans for independence from the American ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett. As fans grow increasingly angry at their lies and false promises, and the Club continues to lurch along, the SOS will be talking about how we can all plan to ensure the Club’s future.

The line up for the rally includes addresses by, Karen Gill – Bill Shankly’s granddaughter  and Spirit Of Shankly patron, John Aldridge – Liverpool legend and Share Liverpool board member, Steve Rotheram – MP for Walton and former Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Neil Fitzmaurice – Actor and star of One Night in Istanbul, John Bishop – Comedian and Spirit Of Shankly representatives who will issue our Declaration of Independence. There will be live music from Ian McNabb (Icicle Works), John Power (Cast and The La’s), Peter Hooton (The Farm), John O’Connell (Groundpig), Pete Wylie (The Wah!) and the Sons of Anfield.

The day is for everyone, of all generations, to come together and hear how we can protect our Club and its future. They will be talking about Supporter Ownership and how plans for a Credit Union fit with these objectives. Ongoing discussions with Partner’s Credit Union will seek to formalise a relationship allowing all members and fans, a protected, affordable way of saving and safeguarding their money, which can then be used to buy a share in any future takeover/share purchase plan. SOS are continuing discussions with Share Liverpool about how the two organisations can work together to truly ensure a united voice, speaking out on behalf of Liverpool supporters.

“This is OUR club. This is OUR chance to make our feelings known. This is OUR Independence Day.  Make yourself heard and be there. Help save and protect our heritage, our history, our traditions and most of all our football club.

We can be ‘true custodians’. For now and for future generations. It is OUR club – Not theirs!”

The Spirit of Shankly want you to help send out that message a little further still, so that it shows it is not just those fans near Anfield or Liverpool that want Tom and George out, but many fans from right across the world.

With a global fanbase and many fans off on their Summer Holidays let us show Tom and George that all of us want to shout out the words ‘Tom and George – Not Welcome Anywhere.’ Be it in Anfield, America or Australia; in front of a famous landmark, down at the supporters club or just at home. Take this chance to spread the message throughout the world, that they aren’t welcome here.

All you need to do is print out the PDF from here and take a picture of it with yourself, your family, friends or your supporters’ club where you live or where you are on holiday this Summer. Please then send the picture to the email address of notwelcomeanywhere@spiritofshankly.com and we will upload it to a gallery on our website. All pictures will be displayed in a dedicated SOS online gallery.

  1. I would prefer it if we would put less emphasis on their Nationality. Gillete and Hicks are not welcome, but the many Liverpool supporters that live in the US are.

Acts like flag burning are a disgrace which reflects poorly on us so I hope there will be none of that.

  2. WELL SAID ANDY, I AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAY, BUT I THINK EVEN THEIR OWN AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THESE TWO JOKERS.

YNWA YNWA – -KEEP THE FAITH- – YNWA YNWA

  3. phew, i saw this on facebook and i thought it was about Roy Hodgson and i was like, already ? jeez give him a chance ;D ,but seriously get the two idiots out :)

  4. Where did the nationality thing come in? The two attached posters don’t mention any nationality. Not too many of us protested when many refered to Benitez as the “Spanish Waiter”!!! I am not suggesting burning of flags but let us not get too sensitive about their nationality. They happen to be Americans and calling them so should not insult them. Yes, if abusive words are attached to their nationality, that would be wrong.

  5. Ironic picture of that kid standing next to an anti H&G sign, yet wearing the new kit!!. Who’s bright idea was that? This is exactly why they are here. DO NOT BUY ANY MERCHANDISE WHILE THESE TWO CLOWNS ARE AT THE CLUB

  6. The fact that s.o.s. is doing this on the 4th of July is their veiled way of not only denouncing H&G (which I’m fine with) but also American’s. I want H&G gone. The sooner the better. This just shows s.o.s. care not about the supporters here in the States. Supporters who wake at 3, 4, or 5am to meet in pubs all over to watch our beloved team. Tens of thousands of us who spend money on new Liverpool shirts and accessories every year. Who, like myself, travel to Liverpool as often as possible and buy tickets..spending money on the club and contributing to the economy of Liverpool itself. s.o.s….rubbish.

  7. I think that although the rally has the best intentions at heart, the sale of the club is already in motion. This will do nothing to quicken the sale of the club. Believe me when i say that i want nothing more than those parasites out of our club. But i fear that these kind of protests, especially when the club is very close to being sold, may have a negative impact on prospective investors. Im hoping it doesn’t, and i hope that the transition of new ownership runs smoothly and our new owner are nothing like dumb and dumber. I hope that these protests run without incident, and that flag burning, and racial comments, especially towards the American people be kept away from the protest. This kind of neagativity will only make us look like a pack of racist idiots, and that is very bad on the world stage. Heres hoping everything runs smoothly and that our finacial woes of the last 3 years are a distant memory. Peace out. YNWA
