He signed as a player who played of the striker as dis Anderson at Man utd and both have been employed in defensive midfield positions (technically one of the most technical and crucial roles in the game). The latter spat the dummy whilst Lucas changed his whole menetality to help the team. For the boy to adjust his game 95% and become a snarling defensive mid (which is what he has been this season) is absolutely fantastic and a glowing tribute to the kid. Comments like those from Ricky and Paviljonac are those of Lemmings. People who follow the blind when they themselves are blind. Grow up. Lucas Leiva, future Anfield Legend. Captaincy material. In 5 years, he’s gonna captain Brazil, and has every chance to do so for Liverpool. At first I thought he wouldn’t be good enough to play for Liverpool, but as times gone by I believe he’s improved his game accordingly to what’s been asked of him, still not reached his prime and yet his shown quality at times especially this season. I think he’s a rising star with lots of potential and I’m glad he’s in our squad. I have allways been a fan of Lucas and feel all he needed was his chance i have to admit that last the end of 2008/09 season i didnt want to see him come on a sub when we were losing, as he wasnt going to come on and win the game for us. but this season WOW he has put so much effort in and has been running midfield!!. i hope the fans give him the respect he deserves. PS: babel needs his chance as well he has the talent to be AMAZING ! he’s been improving a lot since last season and we could see that he’s a very good player now. but i don’t understand why some fans still hate him @ricky – u r crappier than lucas i guess. it is so obvious that u never watch a game or appreciate football. there are few times that lucas performed better than gerrard. look at fletcher at manure, he was a moron back then, but now, he is one of the regular first eleven. I think theycallmemrburt’s got it spot on, people follow popular opinion rather than risk face. If Lucas had signed for us at the start of this season most would be commenting on what a fantastic addition he’s been, if people can’t see how much he’s come on in recent times I feel sorry for them. Hope he continues in this direction. I agree, Richard. Lucas plays his heart out every minute of every game. He never backs down from a challenge and he never quits. Despite all of the criticism, he has remained completely devoted to the club. The comment about the booing at Anfield being the low point of his career is a powerful statement, yet he chose to keep his head up and keep doing what was asked of him day in and day out. I’m happy that he is having such a great season and I hope he has many great ones ahead of him. I can’t help but think that if Babel received the same run of games that Lucas has had over the last 2 seasons that he would be receiving similar acclaim by this time. Sigh. Guess we’ll never know.
