Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has become the latest member of Brendan Rodgers’s squad set to wait until the summer to sort out his future.

The centre-back’s current deal expires at the end of next season, and according to the Echo, he revealed that there was an offer on the table earlier this year, but he would rather concentrate on his football for the time being.

“There was contact with the club a few months ago but at the moment I am just focusing on my game and focusing on the football and then at the end of the season we will see where we stand,” he said.

Skrtel has been one of our best players this campaign, and has provided much stability in a period of transition for Rodgers’s men, including the implementation of a new formation. The defence were seemingly yearning for his presence during the humbling defeat to Arsenal. Therefore, it would be a massive shame should the Slovakian leave Anfield after seven years on Merseyside.

But, he is one of a number of players that look set to have their futures decided once the curtain comes down on the season.

Winger Raheem Sterling has seemingly become one of the hottest properties in football, after failing to publicly confirm a desire to commit himself to the Reds. And future captain, Jordan Henderson also has yet to sign, with the Daily Mail previously reporting that Manchester City are lurking for the 24-year-old.

Defenders Jon Flanagan and Kolo Toure could also extend their stay in the summer. While the Ivorian has received criticism for his performance at the Emirates, there is certainly a desire to see Flanagan – whose campaign has been ravaged by injury – remain a Red.
