It was an excellent month for the vice-captain…
Midfielder Jordan Henderson was announced on Saturday as our player of the month for March, after guiding us to three Premier League wins out of four over the period.
The 24-year-old was in sensational form throughout the month, helping us to stretch our unbeaten run to 13 games, before the defeat to Manchester United.
The England international spent the month with the captain’s armband, and well and truly led by example for the side. He opened the scoring in the massive victory over Manchester City at the start of March, and would do the same in the win against Burnley at Anfield. He capped off the excellent spell with the only goal against Brendan Rodgers’s old club Swansea.
The accolade – which the club have commemorated with a picture on their Instagram page – highlights the former Sunderland man’s development since his move in 2011. As well as finishing the season strongly – preferably with a place in next season’s Champions League, and the FA Cup under our belts – our next priority has got to be tying the midfielder down to a new long-term deal.
