Lyon president teases Liverpool on Twitter over Lacazette transfer rumour

It doesn’t look like we are going to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer sadly, despite our need for a forward and the Frenchman’s prolific Ligue 1 campaign…

The 24-year-old bagged 27 domestic goals, which has led to rumours about a potential summer transfer, with the Metro today writing an exclusive regarding our interest in his services.

However, Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas doesn’t think we have the money for his best player, and reckons we don’t want the superb striker anyway…

This tweet translates as:

‘Liverpool have not called and what European cup are they playing in [next season?]. They have neither the means nor the interest.’

Our lack of Champions League football, and our lack of a whopping transfer budget, is hard to hear…

The fact we haven’t contacted the French regarding Lacazette’s availability is a shame, as he’d be the perfect marquee summer signing to appease supporters following a drab campaign.

None of our recognised forwards scored more than five goals apiece, with big summer signing Mario Balotelli managing just the one in the Premier League. Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert were equally uninspiring, sadly.

If we really aren’t interested in Lacazette, the stories linking us with Christian Benteke might have an element of truth in them.

According to the Echo, the Belgian attacker will meet with Aston Villa and club chiefs to discuss his future, with the Premier League side desperate for him to stay.
