Liverpool to head to France for ‘finishing touches’ of summer transfer business

Alberto Moreno should be avoiding the papers like the plague, we reckon…

While Joe Gomez is being praised to the rafters by everyone following his pre-season left-back exploits – young French star Lucas Digne – who plays in the same position – is being heavily linked as well.

The Daily Mail claim that while Christian Benteke will be our only remaining marquee arrival of this summer’s window, we could head to France to complete the ‘finishing touches’ of our business and try to lure PSG starlet Digne to Anfield.

The French international is 22-years-old, and is one of the most highly rated in his position in the whole of Europe, in terms of his potential.

PSG snared him in 2013, but Digne was stuck behind first-choice Maxwell for the majority of last season, and the report reckons we’re discussing him as an option – with Jose Enrique completely surplus to requirements.

Digne would definitely boost our squad and provide excellent competition for the left-back spot. Gomez is not a natural in this position, so if Digne were to arrive, the youngster we acquired from Charlton could compete for right-back or centre-back spots instead.

Moreno is likely still our starting left-back, but after his mixed debut campaign, he knows he needs to step it up to keep his spot in the team.
