Key midfielder could miss Man United clash after being absent from training

It seems as though we could be without our captain against Manchester United, with Jordan Henderson missing training once again, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Henderson picked up what looked to originally be a fairly innocuous foot injury against Bournemouth, but it has turned out to be more serious than first thought, and he has now missed our last two fixtures against Arsenal and West Ham.

While we were unlucky not to get all three points at the Emirates, we unquestionably should have done better when the Hammers came to Anfield. We could really have done with Henderson in midfield, as he has become an even bigger part of the Liverpool machine since the departure of Steven Gerrard.

He has developed an excellent understanding with Philippe Coutinho and new signing James Milner, and despite often playing a deeper role, many of our attacking moves go through the dynamic midfielder.

Liverpool based journalist James Pearce announced the news, suggesting that Henderson was running out of time to prove his fitness ahead of our clash with United.

“Henderson didn’t train today,” he said.

“So he’s running out of time to prove his fitness. His foot has improved but clearly it’s still an issue.”

Henderson’s absence is a huge blow, so we should be working hard to get him back to full fitness, even if it means missing the next game.
