The captain gives his reasons for the shirt-throwing against Villa

Our players celebrated last weekend’s emphatic 6-0 win over Villa by going over to the Liverpool fans and tossing their shirts into the crowd.

Henderson has been explaining the players thinking behind the move, saying the loyal support had endured a tough couple of months (via Echo).

“I think over the last couple of weeks it has been a hard time and a frustrating time for the fans,” he said.

“The players appreciate that. Thankfully everything (with the tickets) is sorted now.

“The owners realised they made a mistake and changed it back and that is brilliant for the players because everyone can now just focus on winning games.”

FSG infamously announced they’d raise ticket prices substantially, only to back-down days later following a walkout by supporters.

“The fans have always been right behind us, so it was just a nice gesture to do with the shirts at the end,” he added.

With a massive game in the Europa League on Thursday, the 6-0 win was a perfect tonic to a difficult start to 2016.

It was just our second league win of the year, but the first time Sturridge, Coutinho, and Firmino had been on the pitch at the same time all season.
