Jordan Henderson: “We finally have momentum”

Posted by

Last week, our captain Jordan Henderson spoke about the importance of adding momentum and consistency to our season (via Echo).

He was spot on. At the time he went on record, we hadn’t won more than two consecutive league games or won three consecutive home games since February 2015.

Both those records have now fallen. Wins against Aston Villa, Man City, and Crystal Palace have made it nine points from nine in the league, while the Anfield wins over City, Man United, and Augsburg have also made it three home wins on the spin.

Now, Henderson believes we finally have the necessary momentum.

“Momentum is a big thing in football and it feels like we’ve finally got that now,” he said.

“It’s really gathered over the past couple of weeks and now we need to keep building on that. If we keep putting in performances like that then the results will follow.

“You can see the confidence in the team. We’re performing well and we’ve had some good results of late. That’s given everyone a boost.

“It was such a big game against United and to play the way we did was very pleasing. When we play that kind of high intensity football and win the ball back like that there aren’t many teams who can live with us.

“We need to keep trying to improve. We all want to finish the season off well and that will put us in good stead for next season.” (via Echo).
