Jurgen Klopp is taking the Europa League more seriously than his rival Louis van Gaal, the Echo reveals.
Last week, Manchester United filed to UEFA for special dispensation so that they didn’t have to travel to Liverpool on the Wednesday before Thursday’s Anfield clash.

Europa League rules state that an away side must be in the opponent’s city by the evening before the game, but with the two cities parted by just 35 miles of the M62, UEFA allowed LVG’s men to train at Carrington, driving to Liverpool before Kick-Off.
It didn’t work of course, with Liverpool comfortably winning 2-0, a result which flattered our opponents.
Klopp though has chosen to take his squad to Manchester on Wednesday – sticking to Liverpool’s routine for away matches so far this season.
Our progression is not guaranteed but we’re heavy favourites – knowing that United will have to stick four past us if we manage to bag an away goal.
There’s still teams like Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sevilla in the competition, but on our day we can match anybody – although we’d ideally prefer to avoid Klopp’s old side who right now are playing as well as anybody in Europe.
