Liverpool vs Dortmund has become the UK’s most spoken about event on Twitter this year.
According to the Echo, a jaw-dropping 56,000 tweets per minute were in the moments after the final whistle blew. The previous record was held by Adele after she won a Brit Award back in February.
Twitter confirmed the news in a statement:
“The moment the final whistle blew and Liverpool emerged 4-3 winners over Dortmund became the most-Tweeted about moment in a UK event so far this year, with a peak of 56,000 Tweets Per Minute.”
Amazingly, the game now holds two of the top three spots in the Twitter records – Dejan Lovren’s dramatic late winner saw 53,000 tweets sent per minute.
