Benteke and Origi feature as Belgium finish second in Group E

Liverpool duo Christian Benteke and Divock Origi both played as Belgium beat a disappointing Sweden 1-0 in Nice.

It was Benteke’s first action of the competition – though Origi has come on as a sub in all three games.

Despite their introductions, neither saw much game time. Benteke was introduced in the 87th minute and Origi in the 93rd minute.

Belgium won 1-0 thanks to a goal in the 84th minute from Radja Nainggolan.

It means they now progress to the next round of the competition where they will face Hungary in Toulouse on Saturday night.

Elsewhere in Belgium’s group, the Republic of Ireland scoring a dramatic late winner to beat Italy 1-0 and progress as one of the best third-place sides.

Robbie Brady was the hero, heading home Wes Hoolihan’s delightful cross with five minutes to go.

Ireland will play France in the last 16. The winners will face England or Iceland in the quarter-finals.
