Marko Grujic explains his awesome knee slide celebration

Marko Grujic is quickly becoming a fan favourite following his transfer from Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade.

Liverpool actually finalised the deal in January, but the 20-year-old only joined up with his new team-mates this summer after choosing to stay with his boyhood club on loan for the second half of last season.

He’s played two friendlies so far and already given supporters a sign of what’s hopefully to come, scoring in both his appearances against Fleetwood and then Huddersfield.

After both efforts, Grujic took to his knees with a pretty cultured, Coutinho-esque slide – and the midfielder has explained that he just can’t help himself after finding the back of the net!

“I know they are only friendly games,” Grujic told the ECHO.

“But whenever I score a goal my adrenaline always goes very high. I just can’t control myself!

“When I started playing football at the age of seven, I always wanted to play in front of big crowds.

“Every goal means a lot to me, especially now I have joined this massive club. I think the celebration showed how much I want to do well for Liverpool.

“This is my dream and I want to take every opportunity that I get to show what I can do.”

We’ve spent big money on Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum this summer, but the Grujic transfer is arguably just exciting because of his outrageous potential.

His physical traits belie his years, but he’s technically superb too – meaning if his head’s right – he has all the tools to develop into a leading Premier League central midfielder.
