We have struck an early blow against Chelsea in this evening’s game thanks to Dejan Lovren.
It was his first Premier League goal in three years and his first ever for Liverpool. He has previously scored two in various cups, including last season’s dramatic late winner against Dortmund.
Ivanovic, who started the game in reckless fashion when he got away with a deliberate stamp on Lallana, gave away a free-kick on the wide left when he chopped down Wijnaldum.

The ball was played short to Coutinho, who picked out Lovren at the back post. It wasn’t an easy finish – the ball was about to bounce – but the big man sidefooted it away with aplomb.

It was a great goal, but miserable defending by Chelsea. Lovren was one of FOUR unmarked Liverpool players.
The game in midway through the first half, and we have been much the better side so far.
