New boy Joel Matip is the latest person to heap praise on club captain Jordan Henderson after the midfielder’s wonder goal helped the Reds beat Chelsea 2-1 on Friday night.
Dejan Lovren put us ahead just after the quarter of an hour mark, but it was Hendo’s stunner ten minutes before half-time that stole all the headlines.
The result moved us up to fourth place in the table, level on points with Everton in second and Chelsea themselves in third.
Matip told the official website that it was the best goal he had seen in ages.
“It’s a long time ago since I have seen a goal like this,” he said.
“It was a perfect goal and you can’t do that better.”

Matip himself had a great game at the back – keeping Chelsea’s impressive attacking unit well at bay with the exception of Costa’s strike midway through the second period.
He is rapidly proving to be a wonderful signing, and the fact we got him on a free transfer makes it all the more remarkable.
