Remember Freddy Adu? The 14-year-old American kid who was starting MLS games for DC United and was meant to be better than Pele?

Of course you do! Now, the attacker plies his trade in the North American Soccer League for Tampa Bay Rowdies – aged 27. His career didn’t quite reach the heights expected, or in truth, get anywhere close.

But his name is being flouted again because of a 15-year-old prodigy who recently became the MLS’s second youngest ever player behind the ‘Football Manager’ legend!

That’s Alphonso Davies, a Liberian born Canadian who’s got himself into the Vancouver Whitecaps side, playing excellently against Colorado Rapids recently.

Liverpool have sent scout Andy O’Brien to check out Davies at both youth and senior level, claim American reports in the Province, but our rivals Manchester United are also keeping tabs.

At 15, we think the best thing Davies can do is keep his feet on the ground and stay where he is.

Just look at Martin Odegaard. Got his move to Real Madrid aged 16 and has struggled in the B-Team, stagnating rather than improving. He should have stayed in Norway, like Davies should stay in MLS.
