Eye-opening stat suggests unexpected Liverpool duo have best chemistry in Premier League

Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are renowned for their on-field relationship, but it’s Coutinho and new signing Sadio Mane who’ve actually enjoyed the most productive partnership so far this term.

According to Opta, the pair have made 14 chance for each other, more than any other two players in the Premier League.

Coutinho assisted Mane’s opener in the 6-1 demolition of Watford yesterday, of course.

In truth though, Liverpool’s attack comes as a four, not really a two – with Firmino and Adam Lallana included in any discussion.

What’s best is this quartet are socialist footballers – they play for each other and recognise the collective as key. None are selfish or desperate for individual recognition – they all bust a gut for one another in Jurgen Klopp’s ultra-fluid system.

With 30 goals in 11 matches, the most Liverpool have ever managed after this many games of a Premier League season, our attack is a wonderful strength right now.

If we can shore up the defence and keep up our offensive form, anything is possible.
