Mignolet sends out incredibly classy tweet after replacing Karius & registering superb clean-sheet

Liverpool were a brilliant offensive unit this evening at the Riverside Stadium, but it all could have been different if Simon Mignolet hadn’t kept us in the game early on.

The Belgian saved wonderfully from Viktor Fischer in the first-half, and held on to low, fizzing shots as well. What’s more, his distribution was solid and he filled his defence with confidence – helping a Liverpool backline keep a first clean-sheet of the season without Joel Matip.

Instead of celebrating his individual performance though, or the fact he’d displaced Loris Karius (after the German’s ropey outings v Bournemouth and West Ham…) Mignolet told his followers on Twitter all that matters was that Liverpool are back to winning ways.

Many dislike Mignolet, but he was top, top quality this evening, and if some time out of the side was what he needed to find some consistent form, then Jurgen Klopp has managed the situation perfectly.
