Pepe Reina left Liverpool in 2013, but is currently starting for Napoli, who hope to win Serie A and are still in the Champions League.
Simon Mignolet still doesn’t convince Liverpool supporters, although the Belgian has been mostly decent this term, bar a few mistakes in January.
At the weekend, Reina pulled off one of the most important saves of his career, which effectively won two points against arch-rivals Roma. With Napoli 2-1 up, Roma had a chance in the 94th minute of the game, but Reina finger-tipped the shot onto the cross-bar, even though the ball was behind him, before clearing it out for a corner with his feet.
In fairness, Mignolet (and his understudy Loris Karius…) are capable of brilliant saves, too. It’s their consistency from crosses and set-pieces, as well as an inability to insert confidence into the defence which leaves fans asking questions.
